Hello! I am Michael Holuj (he/him), a Registered Psychotherapist at Sunnyside Psychotherapy. I offer in-person sessions in Ottawa and virtual therapy for adults, adolescents (16+), and couples residing across Ontario. I have been practicing since 2021 and work with clients from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and upbringings. I am LGBTQ+ friendly, and HAES-affirming.

My personality is warm, friendly, and down-to-earth. I value authenticity and connection, and I enjoy bringing a sense of humour into sessions when it feels right. I aim to create an environment where you can feel supported, seen, and comfortable to be you.

My Approach
Everyone
has unique needs.
No two clients are the same, so my approach is always tailored to your unique needs and goals for therapy. I integrate elements from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). What this means is I look holistically at your life and internal world, including the physical and social aspects, to help you navigate towards feeling better.
My perspective is grounded in attachment theory, which helps us understand how the relationships and experiences throughout our lives shape the way we respond to challenges, both within ourselves and in connection with others. I focus on helping you develop a confident, reliable relationship with yourself so you can become a central source of healing and change. I am also trauma-trained and work with clients to process and integrate intense or overwhelming emotions safely.

These approaches help us explore your internal experience, how you make meaning, interpret emotions, and navigate relationships. Through this process, you can gain deeper self-understanding, build emotional flexibility, and create new patterns that bring more clarity and fulfillment to your life.
