Fees & Policies

Fees

My rate for an hour-long individual therapy and couple therapy session costs $170.

Payment

Sunnyside Psychotherapy accepts e-transfer and credit cards. After each session, the credit card on file will be charged, and a receipt will be sent to you. In the case of payment by e-transfer, an invoice will be sent. Once payment is received, a receipt will be sent.

Insurance Coverage

Many health plans do cover our services. Clients are encouraged to check with their employer and insurance provider about the extent of their annual coverage for Registered Psychotherapist (RP) psychotherapy services. Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP.

Cancellation Policy

Sunnyside Psychotherapy has a 48-hour advance cancellation policy. Clients will be charged 100% of their service fee for any missed or late cancellations.

Privacy & Confidentiality

Your privacy is important. Everything said between therapist and client in the context of a therapy appointment is kept private and confidential.  All personal and health information collected by Sunnyside Psychotherapy will remain confidential and secure.

Exceptions to this policy will only be made under extraordinary circumstances, including:

  • When there is a clear and imminent risk that you may cause serious bodily harm to yourself or someone else;

  • When there is reason to believe that a child under the age of 16 is in need of protection from physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse or neglect;

  • If a client’s record is subpoenaed by a court of law;

  • If a client discloses that he/she or others were abused by a regulated health professional.

With suicidality and self-harm, this only refers to active suicidal thoughts, meaning a full plan, a date, and the intention, or process of getting one's affairs in order (leaving notes, giving things away etc.). Passive suicidal and self-harming thoughts ("I wish I wasn't here", or "I thought about hurting myself but I know I wouldn't do it") are normal and natural when we are in pain. Speaking about these will not be grounds to break confidentiality. If your therapist believes harm is imminent, they will discuss with you about it first before breaking confidentiality and let you know what they are bound by law to do before taking any action.
